  • Devika Ratnayake is an experienced Dispute Resolution Lawyer, Investigator and Mediator. She provides strategic legal advice and sustainable business solutions on a broad spectrum of employment, and commercial matters and conducts and advises on complex investigations, compliance, inclusion, and policy issues. She has worked both in private practice and as an in-house professional in some of Canada’s largest and most iconic institutions.

    Devika started her legal career at a pre-eminent boutique litigation firm in Toronto, where she participated in the high-profile public commission of inquiry into the actions of Canada’s national security agencies. Devika has appeared before many levels of the Canadian Federal and Provincial courts and tribunals, including the Federal Court of Canada, and the Superior Court of Justice. She has held progressively senior roles in the Canadian private, public, and non-profit sectors and was appointed as an Appellate Adjudicator to the Immigration and Refugee Board, Canada’s largest Federal administrative tribunal, where she was a recipient of the 2020 Chairperson’s Award for fostering a Respectful and Inclusive Workplace. She was also a former Mediator at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.

    Devika holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) specializing in International, Comparative, and Transnational (ICT) law from Osgoode Hall Law School, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Human Resources from York University.   She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Association of Workplace Investigators, and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario.
